There are frequent visitors to the #ubuntu channel with "apt-get dist- upgrade" failures due to full /boot partitions. I think the installer should provide a warning if the /boot partition is likely to be too small to accommodate several kernels etc, and should not create a frustratingly small /boot partition by default.
