Public bug reported: After apt-get update, upgrade, dist-upgrade tonight, something overlaid /etc/network/interfaces. There were kernel, restricted modules, and network manager upgrades processed.
The lines auto etho iface eth0 inet dhcp were changed to auto etho # iface eth0 inet dhcp As a result, network would not start.
