I find a very similar problem with my XPS 15 (9530), which is virtually identical to the Precision M3800. During the last two months, resume started to fail with increading frequency. This escalated up to the point that every resume fails since about a week. A switch from Ubuntu 14.10 to 15.04 did not help with the problem, neither did a BIOS update to version A08 (most recent version at the time of this post).
