Public bug reported: I needed to connect to the company's PPTP VPN so I configured the setting and set password to always ask. I tried 15.04, 14.10, 14.04 and 13.10 but the VPN network simply doesn't do anything. No logs are created, selecting the VPN network from the connections sys tray drop down does absolutely nothing and neither does switching the VPN connection to ON in the main settings dialog. In the absence of any log output I can't really add to this report.
Then I went right back to 12.04 and everything just worked. Selecting the VPN network elicits an enter password box and the VPN connection is established. I can't believe that this is something that hasn't been spotted since 12.04 so it could easily be something I'm not doing right, but then the same settings do work in 12.04. Upgrading from 12.04 doesn't work either ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: pptp-linux 1.7.2-7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-53.89-generic 3.13.11-ckt19 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-53-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.11 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue Jun 2 22:39:59 2015 SourcePackage: pptp-linux UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2015-06-02 (0 days ago) ** Affects: pptp-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1461301 Title: pptp simply doesn't work any more To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pptp-linux/+bug/1461301/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
