Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evolution
I have configured an LDAP addressbook in Evolution (2.10.1) on my
Feisty. While composing an email when I try to add email addresses from
the LDAP address book then a dialog box requesting password pops up.
However, it never gets the focus unless the background dialog box is
open. I am able to enter the password only after I close the backgroud
dialog box.
Steps to reproduce,
- Configure an LDAP address book that requires a password.
- Compose a new email
- Click on the 'To' button to add email addresses in the 'To' field.
- Notice a dialog box named 'Select contacts from the address book' pops up
- Select the newly configured LDAP address book from the 'Address book'
drop-down
- Notice that a dialog box pops up asking for the password.
- Even if the dialog box has focus, anything typed through the keyboard is not
reflected in the password field of the dialog box (in fact sometimes the
password is reflected in the plain text inside the 'Search' field of the
previous dialog box)
Workaround
- Press alt-tab and switch back to the original 'Select contacts from the
address book' dialog box and press the close button
- Switch back to the password dialog box and enter the password (now it accepts
the password)
- Click 'ok' and then the dialog box vanishes (password is now cached)
- Now repeat the above procedure and this time the password dialog box doesn't
pop-up and you are able to add address book entries.
