Public bug reported: When booting my laptop while docked with the lid down (pair of external monitors attached to dock), the system boots to the point of displaying the login dialog, but immediately suspends. When resumed from suspend by briefly pressing the power button, lightdm displays a login screen that just prompts for 'password' (no username). This is under xubuntu.
Intuitively it seems that the system implements a default power manager policy, which suspends when the laptop lid is down, before having the chance to implement my policy which prohibits this when on mains power. This behaviour is new in 15.04, on 14.10 and earlier it worked as expected - at least gave me a chance to log in. There's an easy workaround: boot with the lid up (at least my dock permits this - I know of some that wouldn't), but it's annoying. Not sure what packages this is - lightdm is certainly running, but is this the culprit ? I doubt xfce4-power-manager has had a chance to start ? Is there a power management service in systemd that runs on boot ? $ lsb_release -r Release: 15.04 $ apt-cache policy systemd systemd: Installed: 219-7ubuntu5 Candidate: 219-7ubuntu5 Version table: *** 219-7ubuntu5 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 219-7ubuntu3 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages $ apt-cache policy lightdm lightdm: Installed: 1.14.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 1.14.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1.14.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy xfce4-power-manager xfce4-power-manager: Installed: 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy gnome-power-manager gnome-power-manager: Installed: 3.14.1-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.14.1-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.14.1-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: systemd 219-7ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-16.16-generic 3.19.3 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-16-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Mon May 18 16:25:49 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-13 (5 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422.1) MachineType: Dell Inc.
