Public bug reported:

E1000 driver provided on ltsp chroot environment is not recognizing
82562V-2 (8086:10c0) device; I have built an ltsp server on feisty and
have followed the esteps provided on Ubuntu wiki:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPQuickInstall?highlight=%28ltsp%29;
these have worked just fine with other clients (with other NIC models);
during client boot with 82562V-2 card pxe grabn the ip and load load the
kernel; the process goes ok until the NIC configuration step where
panics due to no interfaces available. Errors on client console:

Loading, please wait...
ipconfig: eth0: SIOCGIFINDEX: No such device
ipconfig: no devices to configure
/init: .: 1: Can't open /tmp/net-eth0.conf
[ 27.323320] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
[ 27.323375]

I have booted the problematic client with feisty live cd and have found
that the NIC is not recognized either; I have compiled and installed
the driver provided by Intel directly on the live-cd booted system and
proved that work fine.
