user-level is the default setting and it should be kept that way. Bug 128548 has a fix to enable net usershare, which could be used with with nautilus-share extension as suggested by seb in above (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/32067/comments/9).
However it won't be implemented for Gutsy as we're in FeatureFreeze.
