Hmmm... I loaded up 14.10 in a VirtualBox and wasn't able to reproduce the problem. I noticed that the xauth> list in my VM image only lists 1 cookie. If anyone subscribed to the bug has an idea about what's not vanilla about their setup, or what other applications/tools might be running, that would be helpful.
