I installed umbrello 1.5.6 using synaptic on Feisty. I was having the same 99% CPU usage problem and was also getting exactly the same error messages.
When looking at the file umbrello was saving I noticed it had nearly 28000 lines exactly the same containing the following <UML:Stereotype isSpecification="false" isLeaf="false" visibility="public" namespace="m1" xmi.id="62" isRoot="false" isAbstract="false" name="datatype" /> After deleting all the duplicates umbrello was working fast again and the filesize had reduced from 4.4MB to 170KB I still get the error messages and it still keeps making the duplicates but I figure regularly deleting the duplicate lines is quicker than finding an alternative to umbrello.
