libspectre - 0.2.7-2ubuntu3 does not solve the problem for me. Rather, it replaces the original problem (black background) with another one (nothing displayed, completely white). As before, manually adding "showpage" at the end of the eps file renders correctly. I observe the problem on Ubuntu 15.04 (upgraded form 14.10) and Kubuntu 15.04 (fresh install).
