I've tried everything to get the wireless connection to work, It seems
so close but I just can't get it

it's a 01:0a.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B 
Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)
 as reported from lspci
. in a Toshiba A10  running a latest and freshly updated 7.04 Feisty 


iwconfig says 
lo        no wireless extensions.


eth0      no wireless extensions.


eth1      IEEE 802.11b  ESSID:"XXXMy Access pointXXX"
Nickname:"ipw2100"

          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.437 GHz  Access Point: "XXMAC
address for the LANXXX"

          Bit Rate=11 Mb/s   Tx-Power:16 dBm

          Retry limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off

          Power Management:off

          Link Quality=100/100  Signal level=-39 dBm

          Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0

          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

it cirrectly finds my access point and picks up the MAC address for the
LAN

The access point log file says Wireless pc connected and logs the MAC
address for the  ipw2100 then reports Packet Dropped frpm 0.0.0.0:0
0.0.0.0:0  with IP with zero length

The  access point has 3 MAC addresses the LAN, WAN and Wireless.
iwconfig finds the LAN, whereas it seems to me it should find the
wireless MAC address. Can anyone comment on this?


Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Sometimes Network Manager shows 
the orbiting comets (with only the lower one in green) sometimes I get the bar 
graph which turns blue when the access key is entered and reports 100% 
connected when the mouse hovers but I can't ping the access point or connect to 
the network or internet on anything other than a cable connection (which works 
just fine)
