Public bug reported: In order to have more users testing LxQt, installation should be as painless as possible. This, however, is not the case at the moment. As soon as you try to install lxqt-common (a dependency of lxqt-metapackage from ppa:lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-daily), lubuntu-default-settings is removed, and as a consequence also lubuntu-core, lubuntu-default- session, thereby leaving the user with an LXDE which does no longer work.
The conflict is caused by the following files which are contained in both packages: /etc/xdg/lxqt /etc/xdg/lxqt/lxqt.conf /etc/xdg/lxqt/session.conf /etc/xdg/lxqt/windowmanagers.conf I think that this is a bug in lubuntu-default-settings because these files are of no use there. With these few files, lubuntu-default- settings is still far away from a replacement for lxqt-common, which has many more LxQt-specific files. The followings steps have to be done to the lubuntu-default-settings package to remove the conflict: - In debian/control, remove "Conflicts: lxqt-common" - In debian/control, remove "Replaces: lxqt-common" - In debian/lubuntu-default-settings.install, remove "etc/xdg/lxqt/" - Remove the directory src/etc/xdg/lxqt Package versions used: lubuntu-default-settings 0.42 (vivid), lxqt- common 0.9.1.0.0+bzr90+201503312215~ubuntu15.04.1 (ppa:lubuntu-dev /lubuntu-daily) ** Affects: lubuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440059 Title: lubuntu-default-settings conflicts with lxqt-common To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-default-settings/+bug/1440059/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
