Same here, after upgrade recently from Ubuntu version 14.04.1 to 14.04.2 version( LTSEnablementStack)... if i boot with the kernel series 3.16.x the default ubuntu plymouth theme don't appears .. however if I starter with the kernel series 3.13.x this if it appears and this works fine. I open a thread on ubuntu forum:
