I have the same problem with Feisty (2.6.20-16-generic) on a ThinkPad
X60 with a Rioch SH card reader.

15:00.2 Generic system peripheral [0805]: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822
SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 18)
        Subsystem: Lenovo Thinkpad X60s
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 22
        Memory at e4301800 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256]
        Capabilities: <access denied>

If a SD card is not inserted, suspend to RAM works fine. If a SD card
is inserted, the screen turns off but the fan doesn't and the suspend
light continues flashing instead of switching to steady.

leaving sd card in causes hibernate and suspend to fail
