The GeForce4 card is supported by the nvidia-glx driver (not the legacy 
driver). run:
sudo apt-get remove nvidia-glx-legacy; sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx

Also what might be the problem is a hidden file in 
/lib/linux-restricted-modules/ try running:
sudo rm /lib/linux-restricted-modules/.nvidia*
