QEMU is a virtual machine application that allows guest operating systems to be virtualized under a Linux host using KVM or emulation. QEMU 1.0 is an outdated version from Dec 1, 2011. QEMU 1.4.0 is the latest version (released Feb 15, 2013) at the time of writing (Mar 4, 2013). There are many bug fixes and feature improvements between the two versions, and QEMU 1.0 is unusable for many newer guest OSes. QEMU 1.0 is the newest release candidate for Mint 13 LTS in the default repositories. All versions of Mint should receive updated versions of QEMU as long as the Mint version is still under support, as Mint 13 is. It would be difficult for most users to compile QEMU themselves because there are many dependencies. Adding QEMU 1.4.0 to the repository would make it very easy for users to begin using it, and it would benefit anyone who uses QEMU. There is no PPA available for QEMU. The QEMU developers advised me to file a bug report with the distribution vendor about having QEMU 1.4.0 included in the default repositories. ** Affects: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- QEMU 1.0 Is Outdated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1145410 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
