I still have the issue as descripbed above. Running on freshly installed ubuntu gnome 14.04.1. Having notebook with intel HD4000 and GTX660M.
After installing nvidia proprietary with apt-get install nvidia-331 nvidia-settings nvidia-prime and rebooting my system does not even show gdm.
