** Description changed: On Windows 8.1, fan is NOT loud. On Ubuntu 14.04x64, fan is always too loud (30 minutes after boot and after). BIOS is already updated. Update: - If battery power only, fan quiet for more time. + If battery power only, fan possibly quiet for more time. I was hoping it was my LCD cooling_device4, but that has current cooling state 100 even when fan is quiet. $ lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) $ sudo pwmconfig # pwmconfig revision 6166 (2013-05-01) /usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed $ sudo fwts -r stdout fan PASSED: Test 1, Fan cooling_device0 of type Processor has max cooling state 3 and current cooling state 0.
