The easiest fix for me when I first encountered the not enough /boot space message was to create a boot disk and completely replace the existing OS, then restore files from a backup drive. A couple of upgrades later, same problem with not enough /boot space. My poor vision makes me uncomfortable having to type in long strings which affect OS files, and I would greatly appreciate a fix as suggested by Matt Hanyok above.
