Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: g77-3.4

just upgraded and g77 segfaults...

I use g77 a fair bit and am compiling code shared object for R packages.
I have compiled the code successfully on Edgy, Dapper, Sun OS and Mingw.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/ft1/dpss$ make
g77 -Wall -O2 -funroll-loops -fPIC -c dpssdjt1.f dpssf7djt.f efnnrdjt.f
tdmevdjt.f upef8rdjt.f tinvit.f tridib.f epslon.f pythag.f
g77: Internal error: Segmentation fault (program f771)

make: *** [dpssdjt1.o] Error 1

I using the following:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/ft1/dpss$ g77 --version
GNU Fortran (GCC) 3.4.6 (Ubuntu 3.4.6-5ubuntu1)
Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

GNU Fortran comes with NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by law.
You may redistribute copies of GNU Fortran
under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
For more information about these matters, see the file named COPYING
or type the command `info -f g77 Copying'.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/ft1/dpss$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu01 2.6.20-16-386 #2 Fri Aug 31 00:51:58 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

This compiles on Edgy. Most importantly I need to downgrade g77 to the one used
in edgy immediately.
I added edgy sources in my sources.list and when I force g77 to the edgy
version many things break, and most of the software that I use is now removed...
