Public bug reported: Running 'cowsay --help' on vivid gives this, which looks like it is broken:
usr/games/cowsay version [unknown] calling Getopt::Std::getopts (version 1.10 [paranoid]), running under Perl version 5.20.1. Usage: cowsay [-OPTIONS [-MORE_OPTIONS]] [--] [PROGRAM_ARG1 ...] The following single-character options are accepted: With arguments: -e -f -T -W Boolean (without arguments): -b -d -g -h -l -L -n -N -p -s -t -w -y Options may be merged together. -- stops processing of options. Space is not required between options and their arguments. [Now continuing due to backward compatibility and excessive paranoia. See 'perldoc Getopt::Std' about $Getopt::Std::STANDARD_HELP_VERSION.] ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: cowsay 3.03+dfsg1-10 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-25.33-generic 3.16.7 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-25-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.15-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Wed Dec 17 20:45:20 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-03-16 (276 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Alpha i386 (20140316) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: cowsay UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to vivid on 2014-11-20 (26 days ago) ** Affects: cowsay (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1403629 Title: cowsay --help gives output that hints at incompatible perl usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cowsay/+bug/1403629/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
