I don't mean to clutter this thread with novice garble, but I was having the same problem with my iRiver H10 mp3 player; that is, transfers would lock up when I tried to transfer too many (or maybe too large of) files. My /var/log/messages would show the same IO errors that everyone else has been getting, and the player would automatically come unmounted.
Following the advice of some of the people here, I modprobe -r ehci_hcd, and my problem seems to be fixed, at least outwardly. Before, I couldn't even transfer 10 megabytes at once, and now I finished not only that, but I uploaded 250 megs worth of FLACs, and I had no problems. Kind of a bummer that I had to disable USB 2.0, I guess, and I know that it isn't a real fix, but if you're as frustrated with this problem as I am, I suggest that you try the same thing. I think that slower transfer rates are, for now, a small price to pay. -David -- USB mass storage stops working after a while https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/61235 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
