After downgrading the package xserver-xorg-core to version 1.11.4-0-ubuntu10.14, the problem is gone.
It is definitely a issue with the security updates (1.11.4-0-ubuntu10.15 and 1.11.4-0-ubuntu10.16 and trusty xstack versions 1.15.1-0ubuntu2~precise3 and 1.15.1-0ubuntu2~precise4). It seems this memory leak is only with the nvidia binary driver (and kde?). Has anyone tested this fglrx? With the open source drivers radeon and intel there is no problem. Nouveau?
