I've marked the bug i filed against trackerd as a dup against this bug. Like i say, a fresh install has made a substantial difference (completely unuseable machien with trackerd -> useable). I do however still hear my disk being hit fairly often. Its not impacting interactivity as severely as it used to, but there are still noticeable short stalls doing fairly trivial things such as opening menus etc.
