For my part, reading explanations above, I understand it may be an LDAP
configuration issue.
However, I perform tests on 2 PC with the same configuration (LDAP
Authentication, home areas served by NFS + automount, multimonitor) :
- PC 1 using Marco Trevisan's unity package
(https://launchpad.net/~3v1n0/+archive/ubuntu/unity-tests) works perfectly
since installation of Marco's package (2014-09-11), before I get this issue
every couple days, so I think Marco Trevisan's unity package probably fixed
this bug.
- PC 2 using Unity up to date from Ubuntu repository, I get this issue randomly
(about once a week).
So I think this is an issue related to Unity.

Like there is a known and not solved Unity bug about this issue, for me,
this is not logical to search the cause of this bug elsewhere (maybe I'm
wrong).

So msp3k and Philipp Wendler (and others using LDAP authentication),
could you test Marco Trevisan's unity package and tell us if it solves
this bug ? https://launchpad.net/~3v1n0/+archive/ubuntu/unity-tests
