Happened for me on Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (up to date). Logs:

qdbus --system org.freedesktop.UPower
/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0
org.freedesktop.UPower.Device.Percentage

Shows: 44

Applet shows 100%, see screenshot. Note, that I also have wireless
keyboard and mouse obviously with batteries. Maybe such config somehow
screws up the applet for the main notebook battery? Notebook is ThinkPad
T540p if it helps...

Let me know what additional logs needed.
