The only change is that it is never detected (while it was randomly
detected before).

If I run hp-setup and then sudo /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb I get this:

Cannot open file 002
Cannot open file 003
Cannot open file 002
Cannot open file 002
DEBUG: Cannot get DeviceID string device /dev/bus/usb/002/016
direct usb:/dev/bus/usb/002/016 "Unknown" "USB Printer #1"

Otherwise:

Cannot open file 002
Cannot open file 003
Cannot open file 002
Cannot open file 002
INFO: Cannot set USB device configuration ... Ignoring
INFO: USB printer is busy; will retry in 5 seconds...

lpinfo -v returns:

network socket
network beh
direct hpfax
direct hp
network http
network ipp
network lpd
direct scsi
network smb

ls -l /dev/usblp0 /dev/usb/lp0 returns:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      7 2007-09-11 15:17 /dev/usblp0 -> usb/lp0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 180, 0 2007-09-11 15:17 /dev/usb/lp0

and usb_printerid /dev/usblp0 returns:

Error: Input/output error: GET_DEVICE_ID on '/dev/usblp0'
