Public bug reported: How to reproduce it:
1) Press <ctrl-N> or click on "Compose new message" button. 2) Enter "to", "subject" 3) Start writing it At step 3, it is extremely slow. But if I skip step 2 and if I don't enter the email address (to), it doesn't freeze or crash. I believe it's nothing related with typing the body of the message, but something related with retrieving/handle the list of contacts. --- Ubuntu 14.10 (with all updates) --- Relevant account settings: Service: Other Imap encryption: SSL/TLS SMTP encryption STARTTLS Composer: Save drafts on server --- Package: geary Priority: optional Section: gnome Installed-Size: 5601 Maintainer: Jim Nelson <j...@yorba.org> Architecture: amd64 Version: 0.8.2-1~utopic1 Depends: libc6 (>= 2.14), libcairo2 (>= 1.2.4), libcanberra0 (>= 0.28), libgcr-base-3-1 (>= 3.10.1), libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 (>= 2.23.0), libgee-0.8-2 (>= 0.14.0), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.41.1), libgmime-2.6-0 (>= 2.6.4), libgtk-3-0 (>= 3.10.0), libmessaging-menu0 (>= 12.10.2), libnotify4 (>= 0.7.5), libpango-1.0-0 (>= 1.20.0), libpangocairo-1.0-0 (>= 1.14.0), libsecret-1-0 (>= 0.11), libsqlite3-0 (>= 3.7.4), libunity9 (>= 5.12.0), libwebkitgtk-3.0-0 (>= 1.10.1), libxml2 (>= 2.7.8), dconf-gsettings-backend | gsettings-backend, libgcr-3-1 Filename: pool/main/g/geary/geary_0.8.2-1~utopic1_amd64.deb Size: 1295946 MD5sum: 03828872824f80ae22b129d3b6b5d9ef SHA1: dc9a2dee3bd4a131bceeae8b6940f2bf424199df SHA256: 6300252e0bcc3f439062521ab1dbc8064651a1ce099c0535741b95c700940f60 --- (geary:4198): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'geary' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro'. (Details: serial 317414 error_code 16 request_code 18 (core protocol) minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
