This happened when I ran apt-get dist-upgrade off a fresh install of 14.10. I had already loaded the propriatary nvidia drivers from 331-updates and reboot. Apt-get gave me kernel updates, and while they were being applied apport popped up to tell me this bug occured.
This was the only error noted in xterm: run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dkms 3.16.0-25-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-25-generic Error!
