https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-default- settings/+bug/1303736 I upgraded from 14.04 (where this also did not work) to 14.10. This is on a Thinkpad x220. When I close the lid, the laptop suspends, and when I wake it, light- locker is running. After unlocking, the screen power is off. Running "xrandr --auto" corrects the issue. I normally have "HandleLidSwitch=ignore" set in /etc/systemd/logind.conf, because otherwise, the xfce4-power-manager setting to only suspend on lid-close when on battery power is ignored. For debugging purposes, I tried changing the /xfce4-power-manager /logind-handle-lid-switch xfconf setting as well as the HandleLidSwitch=ignore setting in logind.conf.
