I had the same problem after upgrading to Gusty. dmesg was full of
nothing but:

device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table
device-mapper: table: 254:1: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed

And udevd was using 70%CPU!

Removing all *evms* pakages fixed the problem. Hopefully the developers
will fix this before Gusty finally comes out. I would suggest some sort
of check/clean-up script in update-manager should be made to disable
EVMS.
