I only see the Ubuntu with the dots under it...they change color for a while - then freeze and I must reboot. As I said, I likely now would have to reinstall grub. I can't get so far to try your idea. I also don't know what it would tell you. I want to log in as me in the end. For now, I can NOT access 14.04 - I've said that a few times recently. It happened after I logged in in Gnome [never had before].
