@Sebastian: the second patch you applied is obsoleted by another more correct patch in the same bugzilla entry. And this first better patch just got commited to Gnome SVN. The first patch from msiner also just got commited to Gnome SVN, so what's needed for the package is to remove both patches that got added to it in this launchpad entry.
In other words, the recorder should now work with plain upstream version. I tested it with current SVN.
