Public bug reported: Muting or unmuting the sound effects in the system settings (just the alerts, not the entire system's sound) used to change this dconf setting: org/gnome/desktop/sound/event-sounds. Now that setting does nothing, and nothing seems to change when the GUI mute button is hit (as seen by using "dconf watch /").
The system sounds still do get muted/unmuted, but there is no way to configure this without going through the GUI now. I assume that this is a bug and not by design, since other sound settings do change a dconf setting (e.g. "Allow louder than 100%", which sets /com/ubuntu/sound /allow-amplified-volume to true/false). I'm using Ubuntu 14.04, version 14.04.3+14.04.20140922-0ubuntu1 of unity-control-center. ** Affects: unity-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1376862 Title: Muting sound effects no longer changes event-sounds setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-control-center/+bug/1376862/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
