Switching to /dev/lp0 worked for me too. Here is some details about the problem:
I installed gutsy tribe cd 4, and then installed the printer. It installed using the hp:/ URI and printed test page and some of my own prints, but soon it stopped working (at first after suspending to ram, but even rebooting did not help). hp-info gives segmentation faults or just hangs or does not find the printer. dmesg says: [ 441.493843] ppdev0: you've already got it! [ 453.685859] ppdev0: negotiated back to compatibility mode because user-space forgot [ 453.685866] ppdev0: released pardevice because user-space forgot [ 453.685871] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice [ 465.304384] ppdev0: registered pardevice [ 465.420791] audit(1189018465.065:6): REJECTING rw access to /dev/tty (bash(10671) profile /usr/sbin/cupsd active /usr/sbin/cupsd) [ 465.466343] audit(1189018465.113:7): REJECTING rw access to /dev/tty (bash(10674) profile /usr/sbin/cupsd active /usr/sbin/cupsd) [ 497.691531] ppdev0: you've already got it! Now that I switched to /dev/lp0, hp-info gives me full report (attached) hp-toolbox says I don't have printers installed and detects the printer and wants to install it to hp:/ URI, but I don't feel like trying since I got mine working and I don't want to hassle with it. At least not for a few days :) Maybe later, after I forget the good old 'If it works, don't fix it' ** Attachment added: "hp-info" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9141205/hp-info.txt -- hp laserjet 1100 fails to print https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
