Public bug reported: I am currently running Xubuntu 14.04. It is regularly updated (apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade), so I believe I have all the latest software there is to have. The only extra ppa I have on my system is for google chrome.
Till about a few weeks ago I was able to see thumbnail previews for media files (jpg, png, pdf, mov, mp4, etc) in Thunar. But, after the last few updates that functionality is lost. So, now I see the generic "pdf" icon for pdf files; the generic jpg icon for jpg files; and so on. Here are some of the things I have tried: * deleted the ~/.config/Thunar directory (as per suggestion here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1561446) * deleted the ~/.thumbnails directory (same ref as earlier) * checked the contents of /usr/share/thumbnailers ... and there's only one file there: evince.thumbnailer * manually run "evince-thumbnailer <file-name.pdf> <file-name.png>" and then viewed the icon in gthumb to make sure evince-thumbnailer works. yes it does! So, at this point in time I believe that the problem is with Thunar.
