I'm not sure why a upgrade would have mattered, unless you had done something with the files in /lib/firmware which was undone by a linux- firmware update. Anyway, there are some changes which will be included in the next kernel version which I think are likely to help with your disconnections. When that kernel is ready for testing I'll let you know so you can see whether or not it helps.
