Thanks for the link to the support tracker, but unfortunately Launchpad is a maze that is quite difficult to navigate. The "Answers" section is quite prominent on Launchpad's main page, but I've often wondered how to ask questions. I just haven't been able to locate a "Ask a question" button or link anywhere. Again today, browsing around I couldn't figure it out. I guess I'm too old or to dumb or both... So, since I've found out how to use the bug report feature, I'll continue my account here. Sorry.
After rebooting, I discovered that /var/log/messages recieves thousands of messages like this (approximately 10/sec). Sep 4 18:53:49 sebulpa kernel: [ 653.552000] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table Sep 4 18:53:49 sebulpa last message repeated 3 times Sep 4 18:53:50 sebulpa kernel: [ 653.936000] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table Sep 4 18:53:50 sebulpa kernel: [ 653.972000] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table Sep 4 18:53:50 sebulpa kernel: [ 654.016000] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table Sep 4 18:53:50 sebulpa kernel: [ 654.052000] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table It was suggested on IRC that I should do an "apt-get upgrade" which I did, it upgraded another ~250 packages (why?) and finally I was down to 3 that were held back (it's a bug, I'll report it separately). After reboot, my system is still generating the above messages, and the /var/log space is rapidly filling up. -- dist-upgrade feisty to gutsy fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137290 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
