Making UPnP optional is already the case, please go to the Amarok Settings menu -> Configure Amarok -> Plugins and disable the UPnP collection. AFAIK it is disabled by default in most distributions, else this would need to be done by distributions who do not ship an UPnP kio. Again, not an Amarok bug at all.
