This is probably fixed in xserver-xorg-video-vesa 1:1.3.0-1ubuntu5 which
came into Gutsy a few days ago (after Tribe 5). Can you try again with a
daily live CD? Or update to this driver version on the command line (and
do not reconfigure anything).
