Ok, I tested with a fresh ISO from: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-desktop-next/daily-live/current/
downloaded a few hours ago. Booting off of a USB flash drive, it does successfully leave the screen on, set video mode to 1920x1080, and have a working framebuffer console. Unfortunately, it seems the graphics driver crashes every 5-10 seconds as indicated by kernel errors which show up on the console. It does start X (lightdm) but quickly crashes after 5-10 seconds of use, locks for several seconds, and then dumps an error to the console. This repeats every time I try to start lightdm, so I can't get in and test more. I took a video of the whole boot sequence until the error occurs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlgpN9xT2i0 I'm attaching some stills from this video for easy viewing - the first is the error that continuously appears in the kernel log and the second is the mess that prints out after lightdm crashes. ** Attachment added: "Error from kernel log that repeatedly prints" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1349679/+attachment/4166366/+files/vlcsnap-2014-07-30-23h08m10s61.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1349679 Title: Ubuntu 14.10 - No display with kernel 3.16 generic on HP dv6z 7000 (AMD APU + AMD GPU) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1349679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
