Thanks--believe I just fixed the problem--actually with the help of your reference bug #1172993. I exercised some due diligence and performed the purge and reinstall, hoping to determine whether the user was from my login prompt or from my indicated user name at the terminal prompt. THIS time I put Both user identities in on the configuration prompt, space- separated. When configuration resumed, my LOGIN user name (CII) was seen to be rejected; however, the configuration "took" anyway and my errors disappeared. Now I've got to see if Kismet works, which will make all this worthwhile. Thanks Again!
