In my case it didn't fail with the same error message, but I've fixed it so that it compiles correctly in my PPA for saucy and trusty (at least). The fix can be found here: lp:~saltmakrell/launchpad/fixtiles-osm-gps-map (it also contains the fix for #1320359).
