Timeout indeed could be increased, but it's currently supposed to be set at 25 seconds (the default for g_dbus_proxy's).
As for saving the states, I'll think about it a bit, try to figure out why it was set the way it was so far. Ideally however, there should be two bugs if there are two separate issues, that makes it easier to track what's done and what isn't.
