It's much more likely that the image was damaged somewhere on its way to the disk than that it's incorrect on our servers (since it's been used successfully by many others). You should check the MD5 checksum of the image you downloaded against the provided MD5SUMS file, and perhaps also check for physical problems on the USB drive. You should also check against the primary mirror site (cdimage.ubuntu.com) in case it has been corrupted on the mirror you're using, which is not one of those we operate.
