I'm on 14.04 LTS now as well, and have to say the problem reoccurs regradless of suspend/resume. It only happens after I plug the camera in / out several times. I'm trying to follow this solution here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=733094 Setting the debug to 0. If the issue still occurs, I'll let you know. Seems like a possible work-around.
