The bug just appeared for me after a fresh install of Mint 13 (Precise 12.04) while trying to install a networked HP LaserJet 5. Before my drive died I was running the same system on the same machine with the same printer, though with a different motherboard and with a hard drive, which I have replaced with a solid state drive.
