I can confirm the workaround using flat file configuration still works at 14.04. Steps to apply: 1. Install compizconfig-settings-manager 2. Open ccsm and go to Preferences > Export and save your preferences "saved.profile" 3. Change Backend to "Flat-file Configuration Backend" (here some people get stucked with a messed desktop with will be fixed at step "4") 4. Import your saved profiled (step "2")
