Once the patch is being backported to ubuntu 14.04 default kernel (so called cherrypick for 3.13) it will then become fonctionnal by default using the regular ubuntu packages. As a side note the official mainline patch is here (which hopefully will be backported to default ubuntu): https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=2f433083e854ec72c19dc9b0e1cebcc8e230fd75 And there cannot really be any offending commit since basically no code is involved.
